The Slim Line retractable height sensor from Asymtek compensates for variations in substrate flatness in order to maintain a consistent dispense height throughout the dispensecycle. It is ideal for dot and line applications where dispensing height accuracy is critical. When the dispense head is lowered toward the workpiece to begin dispensing, a stainlesssteel touch probe extends and gently contacts the worksurface. The probe triggersan optical sensor that causes the dispense head to decelerate its downward(Z-axis) movement, bringing the dispensing valves needle to its programmeddispensing height above theworkpiece. After performing the height sense, the probe retracts and the dispensing cycle begins.Users can operate the Slim Line Height Sensor in differentretract modes, using AsymtekҒs Fluidmove for WindowsNT > software. The probe can be reconfiguredto retract after each height sense, or to sense at every dispense point.The probe applies only 7 grams of force as it contactsthesubstrate. The low force minimizes substrate flexure andvibration, and avoids damage to delicate substrates. Other types of probes may be used when appropriate.
