Pro-Meter ® R Series Meter Innovative continuous flow shot meter provides precise output of adhesives and sealants in high volume applications. The revolutionary Nordson Pro-Meter R Series meter is specifically designed for robotic application of automotive adhesives and sealants. Its unique design blends the features of a shot meter with the continuous flow nature of a gear meter. The result is a positive displacement meter that can dispense filled and abrasive material in high volumes. A typical system consist of a Rhino® Bulk Pump, Pro-Meter R meter unit, Auto-Flo™ dispense valve and system controller. Temperature conditioning is also available. Meter Operation The unit combines multiple pistons riding a single cam, which is designed to ensure the pistons are sequenced to provide a continuous output of material. This unique design eliminates pump winks and refill time. Material supply pressure is used to fill each piston chamber, ensuring presence of material in the meter. The pistons are then rotated inside of a cam. The volume of material filling the pistons in the fill mode is the same volume as that being dispensed by pistons in dispense mode. As a result, each piston stroke overlaps the adjacent piston, ensuring continuous, uninterrupted flow. The output of the Pro-Meter R meter can be increased or decreased to match robot velocity. This provides precise flow control, with better adhesive deposition profiles and faster cycle times. System Control The Pro-Meter R metering system can be operated from a Nordson PCI Controller, Process Sentry™ II controller or a PLC based controller. Either controller can provide extensive diagnostics for system set-up and adjustments, system status, easy robot programming and help screens with diagnostic information to assist in system operation. The unit can also be supplied without controller. The end user can use the robot to control the servo on the Pro-Meter R system. Application Options The Pro-Meter R can be used in conjunction with the Pro Swirl applicator for added application versatility. The swirl applicator nozzle applies material in swirl spray patterns ranging from less than 1 inch to over 5 inches in width dispensing a variety of adhesive and sealant materials.
