NEW PRODUCT BULLETIN DX Series Systems Comprehensive system flexibility combines superior material processing with efficient, modular design that evolves with your hot melt adhesive bonding and laminating requirements. JM Laboratories DX Series Systems provide total component integration in flexible configurations that accommodate production needs today and tomorrow. As your production demands change, all aspects of the DX Series hot melt systems are upgradable or modifiable. DX Series Systems defy obsolescence with engineering foresight that will adapt to new automation architecture and hardware or software developments to help keep you competitive. A wide range of choices meets diverse adhesive application needs, from demanding to complex. Holding capacities range from 90 to 540 pounds (45 to 270 kg). Units are available with up to three hoppers, and as many as six pumps driven by a choice of AC, DC or AC servo motors. These systems allow melting of up to three separate materials run at up to three different melt temperatures. Reliable Zenith positivedisplacement gear pumps provide accuracy of ±2 percent and are available in single- or dualstream designs. Versatile communications accept a multitude of protocols, including Data Highway+, RS232, RS485, RS422, DeviceNet and ControlNet. Addresses of all loops are available to remote PLCs and other users. Modular construction throughout the system reduces maintenance and service time to minutes. For example, pump filter replacement takes three minutes or less, and removal and installation of quick-change pump packs take only three minutes. You can change controls from PC-based with PLC firewall to a PC-based with RTOS in nine minutes or less. Features and Benefits • Comprehensive design provides seamless integration that upgrades and changes with production needs. • Versatile low-cost flow meter offers true closed-loop control of adhesive add-on weight per product. Output pressure indication and flow reading provide excellent melt consumption data in real time. • Flow meter produces melt flow accuracy down to ±2 percent ranging from 15 to 20,000 centipoise viscosity and 75 to 3,800 cc/minute flow rates. • Hoppers are available individually with independent temperature control or combined via a hard fluid bridge. • PFA release coating on hopper interior helps prevent adhesive bridging and speeds clean-up. • Additional melt grids retrofit in nine minutes or less for increasing melt capacity. • Large hopper size serves up to six hours, depending on application, to reduce filling frequency. • Rugged hopper insulation blanket reduces utility requirements. • Universal hopper lid with fill port accommodates drum unloaders and level controls. • Recirculation port in every pump stream maintains consistent output. • Single basket-style filter provides thorough filtration of each pump stream and easily replaces within three minutes or less.

Diagnostics monitor heaters, RTDs, flow indications, proximity switches for pump shaft rotation, pressure relief valve, drive monitoring and alarms, and electronic torque protection for motors. • Key safety features include electronic overtemperature protection and fail-safe hard-wired overtemperature protection, remote-mounted air ramp devices in separate pneumatic panels, and independent pump-stream shutoffs.
