Installation Guidelines for CPVC Fire Sprinkler Systems
Specifications and Procedures:

Ensure compatibility of thread sealants, gasket lubricants, or firestop materials with CPVC.
Store pipes and fittings in original packaging and cover with an opaque tarp if outdoors.
Use tools designed for plastic pipes and follow proper handling procedures.
Apply the correct solvent cement and adhere to application instructions.
Protect interior finishes with a drop cloth and ensure pipe ends are cut square, deburred, and beveled.
Rotate the pipe 1/4 turn when inserting into the fitting socket and avoid solvent cement on sprinkler head threads.
Follow recommended cure times before pressure testing and fill lines slowly at proper pressure.
Support sprinkler heads properly and use insulation or glycerin and water solutions for freeze protection.
Ensure installers are trained according to the NIBCO BlazeMaster® CPVC Fire Sprinkler System Installation and Design Manual.

Prohibitions:

Avoid using edible oils, petroleum, or solvent-based materials as lubricants or sealants.
Do not use glycol-based solutions as antifreeze or contaminate the CPVC system with oils.
Do not use expired or discolored solvent cement or allow it to plug the sprinkler head orifice.
Avoid connecting rigid metal couplers to CPVC grooved adapters and do not thread or groove CPVC pipe.
Do not pressure test with air or exceed recommended pressure levels.
Avoid using ratchet cutters below 50°F and do not use unprotected CPVC pipe stored outdoors.
Do not install in cold weather without allowing for expansion or in dry systems.
