Installation
Proper installation requires valves on the sample inlet and cooling water inlet for hot water service. An additional valve is needed on the sample outlet for vapor or steam services to achieve the required operating pressures. For superheated steam service, precooling the sample to 750°F is necessary, which can be done by installing a pipe between the main steam header and the sample cooler.
Performance
The cooler's performance varies based on the sample and coolant temperatures:
  • Hot Water Samples: At 250°F, approximately 1500 CC/Min of sample is produced using 1 gallon per minute of coolant. At 700°F, approximately 950 CC/Min is produced using 2.5 gallons per minute.
  • Saturated Steam Vapor: At 175 psia, 640 CC/Min of sample is produced using 3.0 gpm of coolant. At 25 psia, 300 CC/Min is produced using 1.5 gpm.
  • Superheated Steam: At 1000 psia, 640 CC/Min of sample is produced at 3.5 gpm coolant flow. At 20 psia, 315 CC/Min is produced at 1.75 gpm.
