Calibration Columns

Product catalog summary
Purpose
Neptune Calibration Columns are designed to provide a quick, easy, and cost-effective method for verifying the flow rate of chemical metering pumps. Accurate flow rate testing is achieved by measuring the drawdown rate on the suction side while maintaining the discharge in its normal steady state. Regular verification is crucial for system accuracy and can also help identify worn or dirty check valves. It is recommended to size the column for a minimum of 30 seconds with a readable scale.
Features
  • Durable PVC construction with slip-on top caps for easy filling and cleaning.
  • Shielded glass models available for handling acids and strong chemicals.
  • Calibration scales protected by Mylar lamination.

Installation Instructions
  1. Install the Calibration Column vertically in the suction line of the Chemical Feed Pump.
  2. Use two ball valves as shown in the installation diagram. Valves are not included.
  3. Ensure the column fills regardless of tank level. Connect the top to a vent tube to prevent spillage.
  4. Do not install a valve in the overflow line; the column must be vented to the atmosphere.
Important Notes
  • The unit must be vented to the atmosphere during use.
  • Do not use on the discharge side of the pump.
  • Intended for metering pump flow rate verification only.
  • Maximum Pressure: 25 psig; Maximum Temperature: 140°F.
  • Not suitable for all chemicals; consult the factory for shielded glass models.
Operating Instructions
  1. With the pump operating, open Valve A and slightly open Valve B to fill the column.
  2. Close Valve A when the liquid reaches the zero mark. Allow the liquid to drop for at least 30 seconds and note the level.
  3. Re-open Valve A. Use the scales to determine the flow rate.
  4. Close Valve B when not in use. Keep Valve A open except during testing.

Calibration Columns-1

Neptune Calibration Columns provide a fast, easy and economical means of checking the flow rate of your chemical metering pump. The most accurate test of metering pump flow rate is to measure the drawdown rate on the suction side while leaving the discharge undisturbed in its normal steady state operating condition. Pump flow rate verification on a periodic basis or after maintenance is important to system accuracy. The Calibration Column can also be used to determine if check valves are worn or dirty. It is recommended to size the Calibration Column for a minimum of 30 seconds with a scale that will produce an easily readable differential within the test period. • Rugged PVC construction with slip on top caps for top filling and easy cleaning • Shielded glass models available for acids and strong chemicals • Calibration scales are protected from harsh chemical by Mylar lamination MODEL NUMBER
