Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document provides technical details about the HFCT-20 and HFCT-60 high frequency current transformer clamps, designed by ndb Technologies Inc. for partial discharge detection in electrical apparatus ground returns.

Applications
The HFCT clamps are used for measuring partial discharge on power cable shields and ground connections, including lightning arresters, current and voltage transformers, high power motors, alternators, and power transformers.

Operation
These clamps help in detecting partial discharge activity, which is crucial for preventing faults due to insulation degradation in electrical equipment. They are available in two models with internal diameters of 20mm and 60mm, suitable for different applications.

Design and Features
The HFCT clamps are built with high-quality plastic for durability and are designed to withstand abrasion and mechanical impacts. They offer exceptional shielding against high-frequency interferences from nearby electrical fields, making them ideal for on-site applications.

Technical Specifications
  • HFCT-20: Transfer ratio of 13V/A, frequency response from 2MHz to 80MHz, internal diameter of 20mm, external diameter of 60mm, output impedance of 50 ohms, weight of 260 grams, and BNC connector type.
  • HFCT-60: Transfer ratio of 13V/A, frequency response from 4MHz to 100MHz, internal diameter of 60mm, external diameter of 125mm, output impedance of 50 ohms, weight of 530 grams, and BNC connector type.

Conclusion
The HFCT-20 and HFCT-60 clamps are essential tools for ensuring the integrity of insulation in electrical systems, thereby preventing costly faults. They are compatible with portable partial discharge detection instruments like the AE-150 and XDP-II.

HFCT - High Frequency Current Transformer clamp-1

HFCT-20 & HFCT-60 High Frequency Current Transformer Clamps The HFCT-20 and HFCT-60 are high frequency current transformer sensors designed for partial discharge detection on electric apparatus’ ground returns. Made from superior quality materials, they are made to last in any environment. The HFCT clamps are intended to be used with the AE-150 for partial discharge localisation, or with the XDP-II (or XDP-II-LT) for quick partial discharge detection and analysis. APPLICATIONS Measurement on power cable shields Measurement on ground connections: • Lightning arresters • Current and Voltage transformers • High power motors, alternators and power transformers OPERATION Overtime, internal electrical equipment’s insulation degrades which leads to possibility of faults. To prevent such situation, the HFCT clamps are used to measure partial discharge activity on ground returns connections. Two models are available for the user’s convenience, 20mm and 60mm. The HFCT clamps allow current measurement up to a frequency of 100MHz. Their chassis are made of high quality plastic, offering an excellent sturdiness to abrasion and mechanical impacts making it the ideal tool for on-site applications. Its exclusive internal design provides an exceptional shielding to high frequency interferences from nearby electrical fields. These sensors are ideal for partial discharge measurements on ground returns of shielded cables. When used with portable partial discharge detection instruments, they allows knowing insulation integrity thus avoiding costly faults. ndb Technologies inc. • 1405 St-Jean-Baptiste, office 111 • Quebec (QC) G2E 5K2 - Canada • Tel: 1(418)877-7701 Fax: 1(418)877-7787 Email: [email protected]
