Overview
NI USB-847x devices provide Hi-Speed USB interfaces for CAN and LIN network monitoring, logging, and testing. These interfaces support high-speed CAN, low-speed/fault-tolerant CAN, and LIN with optional hardware synchronization, allowing multiple devices to interface with various networks. Applications include in-vehicle network monitoring, bus load monitoring, device validation, and CAN device development.
CAN Interfaces
The USB-847x CAN interfaces use the Philips SJA1000 CAN controller, supporting ISO 11898 functionality. They offer features like listen-only mode, sleep/wakeup mode, and error counter access. These interfaces support standard and extended arbitration IDs and are compatible with J1939 networks. Key features include 1-port interfaces, optional hardware synchronization, 500 V digital isolation, and hardware timestamping with 1 µs resolution.
LIN Interfaces
Featuring the Atmel ATA6620 transceiver, the LIN interfaces comply with LIN 1.3/2.0 and J2602 standards. They offer software-selectable master/slave termination and support baud rates up to 20 kb/s.
Hardware Synchronization
USB-847x interfaces offer optional hardware synchronization for tight integration of CAN, LIN, analog, and digital measurements. This feature allows sharing of timing and triggering signals with other devices, maintaining determinism between trigger signals and responses.
NI-CAN Software
NI provides NI-CAN driver software for Windows, including a detailed API and examples for various programming environments. The software includes utilities like Bus Monitor and NI Spy for monitoring and logging CAN and LIN bus traffic.
Specifications
USB power requirements vary by model, with synchronization options available. Supported baud rates range from 5,000 to 1,000,000 baud depending on the model. The devices offer 500 V galvanic isolation and operate in ambient temperatures from 0 to 55 °C.
Ordering Information
Various models are available, including low-speed and high-speed CAN interfaces, with or without synchronization, and LIN interfaces. Additional accessories like cables and brackets are also offered.
Services and Support
NI offers a range of services including training, professional services, OEM support, and hardware services like calibration and repair. These services aim to support customers throughout the application lifecycle.
