Overview
The NI 9144 expansion chassis integrates deterministic Ethernet I/O into NI CompactRIO or NI programmable automation controller systems. It features an 8-slot rugged design for NI C Series modules, communicating over EtherCAT, a real-time Ethernet protocol. The chassis supports daisy chaining for expanding time-critical applications and operates in extreme conditions (-40 to 70 °C).

Software
With LabVIEW Real-Time Module 8.6, users can easily add deterministic expansion I/O. The NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT driver enables automatic recognition of connected slaves and modules. LabVIEW provides I/O variables for easy access to physical I/O values, facilitating system performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

C Series Modules
The NI 9144 chassis supports a wide range of C Series modules for various measurement types, offering flexibility and scalability. Modules are synchronized across the network, and each contains built-in signal conditioning and isolation for industrial signal types. Modules are reusable across different NI hardware platforms.
