Product catalog summary

Overview

The EHP-50C is a compact, isotropic analyzer designed to measure low frequency electric and magnetic fields from 5 Hz to 100 kHz. It offers a wide dynamic range of 140 dB, built-in FFT spectrum analysis, and supports both selective and broadband measurements. The device includes a rechargeable battery, optical fiber connectivity, and interfaces with the 8053-Display unit or PC for data visualization and control.

Applications and Context

Intended for assessing low frequency electromagnetic fields generated by power lines, industrial machinery, and high current equipment, the EHP-50C addresses concerns about electrosmog and health risks. It supports compliance with international standards such as IEC, CENELEC, ICNIRP, and national guidelines.

Measurement Modes and Features

  • Wideband Mode: Measures total field contribution across a selected frequency span.
  • Highest Mode: Detects the peak field level within the frequency range.
  • Spectrum Mode: Provides detailed spectral analysis with marker functions to isolate specific frequencies, enabling selective source measurement and interference exclusion.

Hardware and Design

The device features a compact cubic housing (~1 dm³) containing three orthogonal magnetic loops and three plate capacitors for field sensing, an analog-to-digital converter, DSP, CPU, EEPROM for calibration data, optical interface, and a high-capacity data logger for standalone use.

Data Logging and Standalone Operation

Supports continuous data logging up to 24 hours with configurable sampling intervals (30 or 60 seconds). Measurement parameters are set via PC software, and data can be downloaded for analysis after measurement.

8053-Display Unit

An optional display unit providing full control and real-time graphical visualization with 100 dB dynamic range, marker functions, and data logging. Communication is via rugged optical fiber to prevent interference. It stores up to 32,700 measurements and supports multiple logger modes and alarms.

Software Control (EHP-TS)

The EHP-TS PC software enables remote control of EHP-50C and EHP-200 analyzers via optical fiber (up to 40 m with USB-OC converter, 80 m with RS232 converter). It features a user-friendly interface with grouped controls for sweep, mode, limits, appearance, and data. Supports simultaneous electric and magnetic field spectrum display, customizable limits (including ICNIRP and local regulations), and data export in bitmap and text formats.

09-09 - EHP-50C 2/8 Subject to change without notice Electrosmog is a popular term used to describe any phenomenon or problem associated with artificially generated electric or magnetic fields. A range of electric or electronic devices may cause an environmental risk and – under certain conditions - generate potentially hazardous electric or magnetic fields; however, special attention is devoted to low frequency fields, such as those generated by power transmission lines, traction lines and, in general, high current equipment (large electric motors, huge manufacturing machines, power generators,...

09-09 - EHP-50C 4/8 Subject to change without notice The EHP-50C has an efficient battery management system enabling operations in Logger mode for a very long time (see the table, right). During the time the Data Logger - Low Power is operated, the Analyser takes a measurement and transfers it to the internal non volatile memory of the 8053-Display, after which it goes into a state of low consumption until the next measurement is started. The time interval between measurements can be set from 10 to 900 seconds (15 minutes). 8053-Display Logger Interface To enhance the monitoring capacity of the...
