Product catalog summary
Overview of DURO for Hot Work
DURO series, developed by NACHI, are special steels designed for precise die and mold applications. These steels are characterized by high toughness and strength, achieved through NACHI's proprietary steel manufacturing and refining technology. The DURO series minimizes non-metallic inclusions and segregation, enhancing performance by controlling carbide quantity and size.

Grades and Applications
The DURO series includes two main grades for hot work: DURO-N1 (High Toughness Grade) and DURO-F1 (High Strength Grade). Each grade offers a unique balance of toughness and wear resistance, suitable for various applications such as die and punch for hot work.

Mechanical Properties
DURO-N1 and DURO-F1 exhibit superior impact resistance and tensile strength at high temperatures compared to conventional hot work tool steels like H13. DURO-N1 shows higher impact resistance from room temperature to 600°C, while both DURO-N1 and F1 maintain higher tensile strength up to 700°C.

Wear and Heat Check Resistance
Both DURO-N1 and F1 demonstrate excellent wear resistance and heat check resistance, outperforming H13 in tests. These properties make them ideal for applications requiring durability under high thermal and mechanical stress.

Heat Treatment Recommendations
DURO grades require specific heat treatment conditions to achieve desired hardness levels. DURO-N1 is typically used within an HRC range of 50-54, while DURO-F1 is used within HRC 54-60. The heat treatment process involves precise control of austenitizing and tempering temperatures.

Applications and Performance
DURO steels are used in various applications, including hub forming, forging, and punching, offering significantly longer life compared to traditional steels like H10 and H13. For instance, DURO-F1 can extend the life of forging punches up to four times longer than H10.

Conclusion
The DURO series provides a robust solution for hot work applications, combining high toughness, strength, and resistance to wear and heat checks. These properties ensure enhanced performance and longevity in demanding industrial environments.

FM ALLOY is DURO is a brand name for NACHI’s newest material products. Made from NACHI’s own technology to be high performance alloys with fine microstructure control. named from the Latin word which means “hard” or “endure”. A description for our tough materials to be used for die and mold. Benefits of DURO • DURO is made by a highly purified procedure, to have high toughness and fatigue strength because of very little non-metallic inclusions. • Quantity and size of carbides in DURO microstructure are controlled to have a superior balance of toughness and wear resistance.
