Description: SALAMANDER SUPER is a high-quality ceramic bonded clay graphite crucible range manufactured using plastic forming techniques.

Applications: These crucibles are used in fuel-fired and medium/high frequency induction furnaces. Smaller sizes are suitable for melting precious metals, while larger sizes can handle ferrous alloys like grey iron and non-ferrous alloys.

Typical Metal Casting Temperature: 850 - 1600°C (1562 - 2912°F).

Identification: Crucibles are black, except for some smaller unpainted sizes.

Pattern Range: Available in A-shapes, F-shapes (bilge), and E-shape cylinders, with ladle liners in standard or bottom pour configurations.

Quality: Manufactured from premium materials to ISO9000:2000 standards.

Preheating/First Use:

Fuel-Fired Furnaces: Preheat empty to minimize temperature gradient. Heat slowly to 600ºC, then to 900ºC before charging.
Induction Furnaces: Preheat empty, start at 20% power, increase to 50% after 30 minutes, then to maximum.

Charging: Charge immediately after reaching pre-heat temperature. Use light scrap first, then ingots vertically.

Installation: Use free-standing in lift-out furnaces. Ensure uniform heating and mechanical support with appropriate stands.

Cleaning Out: Clean crucibles between melts while red hot to remove corrosive slag.

Safety: Wear proper safety clothing, avoid moisture, store crucibles dry, and check for damage before use.

Crucible Care: Add flux only after metal is molten, avoid cold air ingress, and clean daily while red hot.

A thin layer of coke dust or other carbonaceous material should be sprinkled on to the stand or pedestal to prevent the crucible sticking to it. > Salamander Super crucibles are used free standing in lift outfurnaces. In Small Salamander Super crucibles are sometimes used in medium to high frequency induction furnaces. The heat-up procedure is dependant on furnace frequency, coil dimensions, and the resistivity of the metal being melted. It is recommended where possible to preheat the crucible empty....
