The MTN/415 is a fully self-contained, battery-powered unit, with unique features designed for ease of use. The MTN/415 requires no external power source or wiring, making it ideal for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, short-term maintenance and trouble shooting in the remotest of locations. A sharp tap is all that is needed to turn the unit on, with the indicator reverting to “sleep” automatically after one minute. A lithium manganese battery gives a typical operating life of five years (depending on usage). Another important feature of the MTN/415 is the integral display, allowing on-site maintenance or machine operators to assess the status of the equipment being monitored without the need for additional instruments. The unit is based on proven accelerometer technology, and uses a micro-controller to process and display signals. The micro-controller computes true RMS g as required by the machine vibration standard ISO 10816-1. The MTN/415 has a robust stainless steel construction, and a specially designed variable position mounting enables the sensor to be installed in any plane. This makes it quick and simple to attach the sensor to the equipment being monitored and provides a clear view of the 2 digit LCD display.
