GANGWAYS AND PEDESTRIAN AREAS IN A REFINERY LOCATION The refinery is an operational unit belonging to the Italian Branch of an international group. Main company located in Italy, belonging to an international group. It operates in different sectors, such as crude oil refining, production, distribution and sale of oil products and the chemical industry. Location For the renovation of ladders and gangways of the tank storage facilities in the refinery in Augusta, products resistant to the elements were used. As a matter of fact, the structures were to be installed outdoor with temperatures ranging from -10 to +50°C. Gangways were installed over a row of tanks containing oil products or reagent products. The objective was to allow the passage of people in that area for operations and maintenance in the plant. In order to ensure the continuation of plant activities, installed products were pre-assembled to the greatest extent possible and working drawings showing all mounting phases were provided. The materials were easy to install, UV resistant and required little maintenance. Required slip resistance: R13-V10 class, according to the DIN E 51130 standard. SCH 38/30_ IFR and SCH 38/30C_ IFR gratings , pultruded profiles M.M. designed the structures using pultruded profiles and SCH 38/30_IFR and SCH 38/30C_IFR gratings, which were supplied as preassembled structures thus allowing people to comfortably reach the tank area at any time during installation. The structures were prefabricated and preassembled in order to reduce intervention in the site to a minimum. The structure of the coverings ensures the required capacity under concentrated load conditions, limits weight and ensures R13 V 10 slip resistance according to DIN E 51130. The intrinsic properties of the materials make this product durable and prevent the decline of its characteristics even in aggressive environments. The material is dielectric; as a result, M.M. gratings were classified as excellent insulators according to the EN 61340-2.3 and IEC 61340-4-5 electrical safety standards. The structures were manufactured using pultruded profiles designed and prefabricated by M.M..
