Inclinometers and Orientation Sensors 3DM-GX1®

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The 3DM-GX1® is an advanced orientation sensor that integrates three angular rate gyros, three orthogonal DC accelerometers, and three orthogonal magnetometers. It features a multiplexer, a 16-bit A/D converter, and an embedded microcontroller to provide orientation data in dynamic and static environments. It supports full 360-degree angular motion on all axes and outputs data in matrix, quaternion, and Euler formats. The sensor can output temperature-compensated, calibrated data at update rates of 350 Hz and supports RS-485 network protocol for deploying multiple nodes.

Features & Benefits
- On-board processing and filtering of sensor outputs.
- Fully compensated over a wide temperature range.
- Calibrated for sensor misalignment and gyro G-sensitivity.
- Supports hard-iron field calibration.
- Outputs include Euler angles, quaternion, orientation matrix, and raw sensor data.
- Standard RS-232, RS-485 outputs, with optional analog output.
- Small, lightweight, and low power.
- Supports AHRS, IMU, and vertical gyro modes.

Applications
- Unmanned aerial/underwater vehicles and robotics for navigation and artificial horizon.

Technical Details
The 3DM-GX1® uses triaxial gyros for dynamic orientation tracking and triaxial accelerometers and magnetometers for static orientation. It features a programmable filter algorithm for real-time blending of static and dynamic responses, providing fast response and drift elimination. Full temperature compensation ensures performance across a wide range of temperatures. The sensor's small size makes it ideal for OEM applications.

Inclinometers and Orientation Sensors 3DM-GX1®-1

3DM-GX1ή combines three angular rate gyros with three orthogonal DC accelerometers, three orthogonal magnetometers, multiplexer, 16 bit A/D converter, and embedded microcontroller to output its orientation in dynamic and static environments.Operating over the full 360 degrees of angular motion on all three axes, 3DM-GX1provides orientation in matrix, quaternion, and Euler formats. The digital serial output can also provide temperature compensated, calibrated data from all nine orthogonal sensors at update rates of 350 Hz.Networks of 3DM-GX1ή nodes can be deployed by using the built-in RS-485 network protocol. Embedded microcontrollers relieve the host system from the burden of orientation calculations, allowing deployment of dozens of 3DM-GX1 nodes with no signifi cant decrease in system throughput.Output modes and software fi lter parameters are user programmable.
