dbk+4 ultrasonic double sheet control

Product catalog summary
Overview: The dbk+4 ultrasonic double-sheet control by microsonic GmbH is an advanced device designed for detecting single and double sheets in various industrial applications. It integrates multiple variants of its predecessor into a single unit, offering enhanced functionality.
Key Features:
  • Three control inputs for trigger, Teach-in, and external sensitivity settings.
  • Teach-in option for materials like wafers stuck together by a water film.
  • Variants with 90° angled head and external M18 receiving transducer.
  • Compact transmitters and receivers in M12 threaded sleeves.
  • Plug and play functionality with no Teach-in needed.
  • Selectable working distance between transmitter and receiver from 20 to 60 mm.
  • LinkControl software for sensor configuration from a PC.
Functional Principle: The device uses a high-frequency ultrasonic transmitter to induce vibrations in the material, which are evaluated by a receiver to detect single, double, or missing sheets.
Working Ranges: Supports three working ranges for different material weights (20 g/m² to 1,200 g/m²) and can operate in standard, thin, or thick settings. Teach-in is available for materials outside these ranges.
Applications: Suitable for assembly machines, battery cell production, folding machines, labeling, solar cell manufacturing, paper-processing machines, PCB manufacturing, and sheet-printing machines.
Mounting and Operation: Recommended spacing between transmitter and receiver is 40 mm, adjustable between 20 to 60 mm. The device operates in free-run mode with high measuring rates and can switch working ranges during operation.
Trigger Mode: Allows measurements in continuous feed applications using an external trigger signal, configurable via LinkControl software.
Support and Configuration: The dbk+4 can be parameterized using LinkControl software, allowing adjustments to spacing, trigger modes, and threshold values.
Housing Variants: Four housing variants are available to accommodate different installation needs, including standard, 90° angular head, and compact designs.
Technical Specifications:
  • Transducer frequency: 400 kHz.
  • Operating temperature: +5°C to +60°C.
  • Storage temperature: -40°C to +85°C.
  • Protection class: IP 65.
  • Weight: 20-100 g depending on the variant.
Design and Operation: Features a cylindrical M18 design and operates in double sheet control mode. Allows for adjustable spacing between the transmitter and receiver, with an optimal distance of 40 mm ± 3 mm. Uses pulse operation with amplitude evaluation and operates at a transducer frequency of 400 kHz. It has a blind zone of 7 mm in front of the transmitter and receiver.
Electrical Data: Operating voltage is between 20 - 30 V d.c. with reverse polarity protection and a voltage ripple of ± 10%. The no-load current consumption is ≤ 50 mA. Includes a 2 m PUR cable for connection, with specific configurations for transmitter and receiver cables.
Outputs and Inputs: Provides two outputs: a double sheet output and a missing sheet output, both adjustable and short-circuit-proof. The response time is < 500 µs in trigger mode and 2.5 ms in free-run mode. Includes three control inputs for various settings.
Material and Construction: Housing is made of a brass sleeve, nickel-plated, with plastic parts made of PBT and PA. The ultrasonic transducer is constructed from polyurethane foam and epoxy resin with glass contents. The system is protected to EN 60529 IP 65 standards and operates within a temperature range of +5°C to +60°C, with a storage temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
Additional Features: Includes a Duo-LED indicator for operational status, with green indicating working, red for double sheet detection, and flashing red for missing sheet detection. Supports Teach-in via control inputs and LCA-2 with LinkControl for settings adjustments. Specifications are subject to change and do not warrant product features.

The new ultrasonic double-sheet control dbk+4 combines multiple variants of its predecessor into a single unit, opening up entirely new possibilities for use. > 3 control inputs > for trigger, Teach-in and external sensitivity settings for the material > Teach-in option > e.g. for probing wafers stuck together by a water film > Variant with 90° angled head > for individual installation situations > Variant with external M18 receiving transducer > Variants with very compact transmitters and receivers in the M12 threaded sleeve > Reliable detection of single and double sheets > No Teach-in needed...

Description The task of double-sheet control is to identify two or more pieces or sheets inadvertently adhering together. The functional principle A high-frequency ultrasonic transmitter beams against the sheet from the underside. The beamed signal induces the material to vibrate. The effect of these vibrations is a very small sonic wave on the other side of the sheet being spread. This wave is evaluated by the ultrasonic receiver on the opposite side. The signal from the stacked sheet ("double sheet") is so weak that it hardly gets to the receiver. The dbk+4 detects missing, single and double...

Battery cell production Folding machines Manufacturing of solar cells and silicon wafers Paper-processing machines Sheet-printing machines Paper, Film, Sheet material The mounting The recommended spacing between transmitter and receiver is 40 mm (or 20 mm with dbk+4/M12/CD/M18 ER+S). If needed, this spacing can be adapted to the local conditions in the 20 to 60 mm range. For the matter of commissioning, this can be done by means of a simple Teach-in or with the LinkControl parameterisation software. Fine-corrugated card can be optimally dimensioned at an inclination of a > 35°, thin sheet metal or thicker plastic films at 27° and wafers at an angle of 11° The dbk+4 operates as standard in the free-run mode. This means that the dbk+4 cyclically carries out measurements at a high measuring rate. Under ongoing operations, the working range can be changed and a teach-in carried out by means of the C1 to C3 control inputs.
