Zero-Order Quartz Wave Plates -1

O p t i c s 581 Email: [email protected] • Web: newport.com Zero-Order Quartz Wave Plates Zero-order wave plates are temperature insensitive phase retarders for moderate bandwidth applications. These zero-order wave plates are constructed of two quartz plates, air-spaced to allow for use with high-power lasers, in a standard 12.7 mm or 25.4 mm diameter housing for easy mounting into a holder. Zero-order wave plates are moderately insensitive to wavelength change, which makes them ideal for laser diode or tunable laser applications. Typical zero-order wave plates have a temperature coefficient of 0.0001 ë/°C. • Relatively insensitive to wavelength and temperature variation • Laser line AR V-coated for R <0.25% per surface • Major laser wavelengths from 248–1550 nm Specifications Material Quartz, schlieren grade Construction Two plates, air spaced Retardation ë/4 or ë/2 Retardation Accuracy ±ë/300 Wavefront Distortion ë/10 at 632.8 nm over the full aperture Surface Quality 10-5 scratch-dig Wedge <1 arc sec Diameter Tolerance +0/-0.076 mm Inside Diameter Tolerance +0.25/-0 mm Thickness Tolerance +0/-0.25 mm Antireflection Coating Laser Line V-coating, R <0.25% Cleaning Non-abrasive method, acetone or isopropyl alcohol on lens tissue recommended, caution: fragile, thin optic Damage Threshold 2 MW/cm2 CW, 2 J/cm2 with 10 nsec pulses, typical For a detailed tutorial on wave plates, see page 437. 0.4 0.3 0.2 0.1 0 -0.1 -0.2 -0.3 0.92 0.96 0.98 1.00 Normalized Wavelength Retardance Error (waves) 0.94 1.02 1.04 1.06 1.08 Zero-Order Quartz Waveplate Multiple-Order Quartz Waveplate Typical Ordering Information To order, substitute the desired wavelength code from the table below for "ë" in the part number.
