Volume Bragg Gratings™ - 1

NEW O p t i c s 593 Email: sales@newport.com • Web: newport.com WINDOWS BEAMSPLITTERS OPTICAL FILTERS POLARIZATION OPTICS DIFFRACTION GRATINGS HIGH-ENERGY OPTICS ULTRAFAST LASER OPTICS ACCESSORIES Volume Bragg Gratings™ Volume Bragg Gratings™ are the ideal optical solution to stabilizing the output wavelength from a commercial laser diode. The volume Bragg grating is inserted right at the output of the laser diode. It will self-seed the laser diode and force it to lase at the center wavelength of the grating. Gratings are available for both single emitter laser diodes and laser diode bars. Gratings are also offered in a chirped format. A chirped grating allows the end user to tune the wavelength of the grating by adjusting the location of laser beam entry. By moving the grating across the laser diode exit aperture, the ideal wavelength can be tuned into the laser diode itself. The Volume Bragg Grating, or VBRG, is ideal to use in laser diodes that are fiber coupled for wavelength stabilization. • Center wavelength stabilization for laser diodes • Narrowed spectrum for multimode laser diodes • High transmission efficiency • Small size will fit into any space Specifications Center Wavelength Accuracy typ 0.2 nm, max 0.5 nm FWHM typ 0.5 nm, max 1 nm Off-Peak Transmission Loss Near Operating Wavelength <4% Peak Reflectivity 15% Wavelength Drift Over Temperature 0.01 nm/°C Damage Threshold >10W/cm2, 30 ìsec pulses @ 1064 nm Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL) 0.1 dB max Operating Temperature 25 °C Storage Temperature Range -40 °C to +85 °C Surface Quality 20-10 Flatness @ 632.8 nm (waves) ë/8 Ordering Information Volume Bragg Gratings is a trademark of PD-LD Inc. Save time and effort! Newport offers custom laser diodes that already have the volume Bragg grating incorporated into its package. No need to worry about alignment or mounting. We can do it all for you. Contact us for additional information. B A Thickness is variable and is determined by the FWHM value.
