These micrometers have 0.5 mm pitch (50.8 TPI) threads and read directly in increments of 10 ìm, with vernier reading of 1 ìm. A left handed version is also available. Left-hand threaded versions are preferred when the micrometer is mounted on the moving platform of a stage so that turning the micrometer moves the stage in the direction of the micrometer travel.
