They have a broader spectral range than liquid light guides (page 253) and significantly higher throughput (for large sources) than single fibers (page 250). For transmittance down to 190 nm, see page 249 for our new Solarization Resistant Large Core Single Fibers, which do not suffer from the solarization problems that plague the fused silica fibers described here. The High Grade Fused Silica Bundles use a silica/silica polyimide buffer. The Standard Grade models use an optical grade fused silica core and siloxane polymer cladding. All our bundles have 11 mm standard terminations. They mount in the fiber assemblies described on page 257 to 258.
