The Series Q Housing, named for its quiet convection cooling, is one of our most popular housings for low wattage lamps. It's price, size, and versatility make it attractive to researchers. Now, we have a new model that allows quick access to the lamp, simplifying lamp interchange. With the hinged cover model 60030, you don't have to lift the entire cover off the lamp housing. The 60030 has three output ports, compared to four for the 60000. In order to make the Series Q so versatile (it holds 22 different lamps or elements, and has multiple output ports), we made it a modular enclosure. The heart of the enclosure is the model 60000 or 60030 Series Q, which is a shell with an X-Y-Z adjustable lamp base. Z travel is ±0.075 inch (±2.0 mm). To turn it into a functional lamp housing, you simply add the necessary lamp mounting hardware and condensing optics. To Build a Complete Series Q System We offer complete arc (see page 87) and quartz tungsten halogen (see page 126) based Series Q Systems. These systems feature the 60000 Series Q Housing. You can easily build your own systems using the 60030 Hinged Series Q Housing, or a different configuration with the 60000. You will need the following components: • Series Q Housing • Condensing Lens Assembly • Rear Reflector (optional) • Interface Kit • Lamp Socket Adapter • Power Supply and appropriate cables • Lamp Which Condenser Do I Choose? The Series Q Housings do not include a condenser or a rear reflector; you must order them separately. We offer various condensers; they differ in the lens material, F/# and collection efficiency. We compare them in Table 3. All condensers are the 1.5-Inch Series size. Most of the condensers produce a 1.3-inch (33 mm) diameter collimated beam. We also offer imaging condensers which produce a focused spot. Typical spot sizes are listed in Table 2. The asphere condensers are "corrected optics." Their design ensures that they are corrected for spherical aberration and minimize lateral chromatic aberration.
