By tightening a thumbscrew on the side of the stage, the platform is tangentially driven by the precision actuator. RS40 includes a BM11.5 micrometer, while RS65 is supplied without an actuator to allow the user to choose between a fine adjustment screw, micrometer, differential micrometer, or a motorized actuator. A graduated scale marked in 2° increments indicate angular position and a vernier scale allows position readout to 12 arc min. Rotation can be locked to prevent accidental adjustment and reduce drift by tightening a second thumb screw on the side of the stage. RS65 allows 1 in. (25.4 mm) diameter linear polarizers, wave plates, calcite polarizers, and polarizing cube beamsplitters to be rotated with precision. The inside diameter of the mount is threaded 1.063-20. Two Delrin retainer rings are supplied to securely hold the optics. Thin optics can be held with one retaining ring on each side of the optic.
