These are simple, low cost open-air holders for low powered quartz tungsten halogen lamps. They are especially useful when you need to place the source close to the sample. Each mount has a 1/4-20 tapped hole on two sides. This allows you to rod mount the lamp vertically or horizontally. d D D = d F F S C FC FS Fig. 1 Collimate and focus the lamp output with two lenses Collimating the Output Although these lamp mounts do not have condensers, like our lamp housings, you can easily achieve a collimated output with a plano convex lens. A plano convex lens used as shown in Fig. 1 is close to the lowest aberration singlet lens. If you want to re-focus the source, use a second plano convex lens.
