The 70721 and 70723 Voltage Amplifiers are optimized for use with our fast detectors of pulsed radiation. The output of PMT, Si, InGaAs, and HgCdZnTe detectors, or any other source of low voltage signals which will not be loaded down by the 50 Ù amplifier input impedance, can be amplified by these devices. The 70721 and 70723 bring these low level voltages to a value more suitable for displaying on an oscilloscope. Usable with These Oriel Detectors These amplifiers are usable with the following Oriel Detectors. Table 1 Compatible Oriel Detectors for 70721 and 70723 Amplifiers Oriel Detector Reference Page Number Any PMT page 1233 InGaAs page 1238 Silicon page 1236 50 Ù Impedance BNC input and output connections provide easy interface to detectors and data collection and display electronics. The 50 Ù input impedance of the amplifiers is designed to match the impedance of the BNC cables. This prevents the formation of electronic echoes due to reflections at impedance-mismatched interfaces. These echoes show up as additional features with delays of approximately 3 ns per foot of cable length. External Power Source Needed The 70721 Amplifier requires a source of +15 VDC power and the 70723 Amplifier must be powered by an external ±12 V supply. Our 70703 Lab Power Supply (described on page 1247) was designed for this purpose. Or, you can use any low noise, linear, laboratory power supply. • 3 dB points up to 350 MHz • Gains to 40 dB • Noise down to 0.7 nV Hz-12 • Output swing to ±3 V into 50 Ù Specifications 70721 70723 Voltage Gain 40dB, 3dB points at 150Hz and 100MHz 30dB ±20% DC to 350MHz (3dB) Input Noise 0.7 nV Hz-1/2 3 nV Hz-1/2 ±20% Input Impedance 50 Ù 50 Ù (10 pF capacitance) Output Load 50 Ù 50 Ù Signal Connections BNC BNC Power Requirements ±15 VDC, 60 mA typical ±12 VDC, 100 mA (no load) Power Connections Solder pins Solder pins Output Swing ±2V at 50 Ù ±3V into 50 Ù Input Drift N/A 15 uV/°C typical Offset N/A Trimpot adjustable Polarity Non-inverting Non-inverting Weight 0.25 lb (0.1 kg) 0.25 lb (0.1 kg) Ordering Information Model Description 70721 100 MHz Voltage Amplifier 70723 350 MHz Voltage Amplifier 70015 Standard BNC Cable (Plug - Plug Terminations) 3ft for connecting to oscilloscope or other display devices 70030 50Ù BNC termination 70703 Laboratory Power Supply, 115 V 70709 Laboratory Power Supply, 230 V See our website WEBfor more info 0.90 (23) 1.91 3.44 (48) (87) SERIAL NO.
