S Y S T E M B U S I N E S S U N I T Advanced System XYZèz Motion System Key Features • High load capacity • Compliant with cleanroom operating environment • Integrated safety device Application This Bench is a positioning system for the laser conditioning of very large optical components. In accordance with customer's requirements, the mechanical subassembly built by Newport is a 4-axis XYZèz motion system which can accommodate large dimensions optics up to 800 x 600 x 100 mm, with payload up to 800 N. The clean room operating environment was another issue to be considered. High load capacity The welded structure, mounted on the RTM660 rotation stage, features two steel posts which receive the dual guiding rails of the Z special translation. The horizontal translation stage (TBU variant) is fixed on the carriages of the vertical movement. Both vertical and horizontal movements are equipped with high torque brushless motors and 10000 cts/rev. encoders mounted directly on the screw. Staff and equipment security Because of the heavy load and high torque involved during motion, safety devices have been included to prevent the risks of injury to operators or damage to the equipment (such as: optical switches automated via a PLC, brake on the vertical translation when the power is off, etc). Spare outputs of the PLC were provided for customer's use for the automation of the laser beam safety shutter. iinstalllled iin 2004
