This product family was designed to extend the utility of the 818 Series detector family. All of the features of the 818 Series family of low-power detectors are incorporated into the 918 Series, with all electrical and electro-optic specifications identical— see page 1177. The 918 Series detectors include the following unique features: Integrated OD3 attenuator — Newport’s exclusive OD3 attenuator technology extends the dynamic range of low-power detectors, and is now integrated into the 918 Series detector housing. By sliding the attenuator into the beam path, the measurement range can be extended without interruptions. Integrated calibration data — The 918 Series detectors are fully calibrated to NISTtraceable standards using Newport’s in-house calibration facility. Each detector is shipped with its individual calibration data which is electronically stored inside the detector head. A certificate of calibration as well as the actual calibration curves is shipped with the detector. Sensing electronics provide feedback to the power meter, adjusting the calibration data to account for any change in temperature, thereby increasing the measurement accuracy. The 918 Series detectors may be either post-mounted or may be placed directly on the table, facilitating fiber optic input. An adaptor that converts from the 14-pin connector to a BNC connector is available, allowing the 918 Series detectors to be used with Newport’s 1815-C or 1825-C power meters. Ordering Information Model Description 918-UV Low-Power Detector (190–1100 nm) 918-SL Low-Power Detector (400–1100 nm) 918-IR Low-Power Detector (780–1800 nm) 918-IG Low-Power Detector (800–1650 nm) 918-ADAPT-BNC(1) 14-pin to BNC adaptor cable 818-ADAPT-OPM(2) 8-pin mini DIN to 14-pin circular connector adaptor cable 1) Used to connect a 918-series detector to an 1815-C or 1825-C. 2) Used to connect an 818-series "/CM" detector to a 1930-C or 2930-C. • Automatic thermal drift compensation • Free-space and fiber optic measurements • Integrated attenuator allows easy extension of measurement range from 1 pW up to 2 W (-90 to +33 dBm) • Calibration data electronically stored in detector head • 2 m long cable allows easy integration into test systems Fiber Optic Adaptors All 818 Series Detector fiber optic adaptors can be used with the 918 Series detectors. Please see page 1177 for details. Compatible Power Meters • 1930-C • 2930-C
