Newport custom mounts are used for precise positioning of large optics in high-energy laser facilities. The specific application involves 420 x 420 mm square mirrors, 60 mm thick. Two sets of four mounts were required, with the top and bottom mounts using similar technology but different mechanical interfaces due to stacking.

S Y S T E M B U S I N E S S U N I T Advanced System Large Motorized Mirror Mounts Key Features • Large dimension optics • High resolution motorized actuators (25 nm) Application Newport build custom mounts for the fine positioning of large dimension optics that are used in high energy laser facilities. In this application, the optics are 420 x 420 mm square mirrors, 60 mm thick. The project required 2 sets of 4 mounts as the one shown on the drawing. The bottom and top mirror mounts are quite similar and use the same technology, but they feature different mechanical interfaces, as they are stacked (the top mirror mount is installed upside down). Two types of mirror mounts were designed and motorized with high resolution actuators. iinstalllled iin 2004 2 complete sets of 4 mirror mounts were delivered.
