Kinematic bases are designed for mounting, removing, and replacing optical components with high repeatability. They feature polished steel balls in the bottom plate that align with a cone, groove, and flat in the top plate, ensuring precise relocation. These bases are ideal for setups requiring frequent interchange of optical elements or occasional insertion of reference elements.

Universal Base holding U100-A Optical Mount on SP-3 Post in VPH-3 Post Holder. Indexing spheres on Universal Base can be used for precise component relocation. Kinematic Bases BK-1A BK-2A BK-3A BKL-4 Kinematic bases allow you to mount, remove, and replace optical components with very high repeatability. Three polished steel balls in the bottom plate register with a hardened cone, groove, and flat in the top plate so the two plates relocate precisely every time. These bases are especially timesaving in setups where optical elements must frequently be interchanged, or when reference elements must occasionally be inserted in an optical path. The BK Series of kinematic bases has magnetically coupled top and bottom plates, providing repeatability of less than 100 ìrad. BKL Series kinematic bases have mechanically coupled top and bottom plates via a locking thread. Extra top plates are available for all of these kinematic bases.
