With pulse widths shorter than 15 ns in the IR and 11 ns in the UV, extremely high peak powers can be achieved making the HIPPO the ideal laser source for all micromachining applications. The laser head is pumped by two 40 W ProLite® diode modules to ensure long diode lifetimes. As with all Spectra-Physics’ diode-pumped solid state lasers, the diodes are located remotely in the power supply. This makes replacement of the diode modules a simple task, providing tremendous wavelength flexibility. The 1064 nm HIPPO laser head is available with standard doubling, tripling, and quadrupling harmonic modules for green and UV applications (532 nm, 355 nm and 266 nm). This modular design makes the HIPPO an excellent choice for drilling polymers and traditionally “hard” materials such as ceramics and silicon. The laser also includes an integrated power monitor, electromechanical shutter, and a thermoelectric closed-loop chiller as standard.
