Focusing and Imaging Beam Probes for Fiber Bundles

Focusing and Imaging Beam Probes for Fiber Bundles

Product catalog summary
Technical Reference Overview: This document provides detailed information on various light sources and related accessories offered by Newport, including calibration sources, deuterium sources, arc sources, incandescent sources, monochromator and fiber illuminators, solar simulators, and photolithography instruments.
Focusing and Imaging Beam Probes: The document describes the Focusing Beam Probes and Imaging Beam Probes used with Oriel Fiber Bundles. The Focusing Beam Probes are designed to focus the output of Fused Silica Fiber Bundles, using a two-lens system to produce a collimated beam. The working distance is specified as 7 mm less than the focal length of Lens 2. Lens 1 has a 19 mm focal length and is included with the probe. Two models are available: Model 77662 with a shutter and Model 77646 without.
Imaging Beam Probes: These probes image the output from Oriel Glass Fiber Bundles. They use a complex lens system to collect and re-image light. The document provides options for different lenses based on desired magnification and working distance.
Ordering Information: The document includes tables listing models, optic materials, and shutter options for both Focusing and Imaging Beam Probes. It also provides lens options with specifications such as focal length, working distance, magnification, and output beam F/#.
Key Specifications: - Focusing Beam Probes: Model 77646 (Fused Silica, No Shutter), Model 77662 (Fused Silica, Shutter). - Imaging Beam Probe: Model 77651 (Glass, No Shutter). - Lens options vary in focal length from 19 mm to 75 mm, affecting working distance and magnification.
Additional Information: For further details, the document directs readers to visit the Newport website.

The fiber bundle is placed one focal length from Lens 1, to produce a collimated beam. This collimated beam is focused one focal length from Lens 2. The working distance is 7 mm less than the focal length of Lens 2. Lens 1 is a 19 mm focal length, F/1.7 fused silica lens, and is included with the probe. Choose lens 2 from the Lenses Ordering Information Table, based on the image magnification and working distance required. The nominal magnification is defined as the ratio of the focal lengths of Lens 2 to Lens 1. We offer two models; the 77662 has a shutter that completely closes off the beam. The less expensive 77646 does not include a light shutter. The Imaging Beam probe images the output from Oriel Glass Fiber Bundles (for liquid light guides, see page 262). It uses a complex lens (Lens 1) to collect the light, and a second lens, Lens 2, to re-image the end of the fiber bundle one focal length away. You can re-image at 1:1, 2 mm from the end of the probe, with the 40230 Lens. Or, form a larger image at greater distances. At 100 mm from the probe, the magnification is 12.5 and you can clearly see the individual fibers.
