They are designed for long distance projection applications such as free space communications and alignment of very large objects. They are also ideal for interferometry, confocal microscopy and applications requiring low wavefront error. The clear aperture is 10 mm and the collimators are offered with FC or FC/APC receptacles to accept any single-mode or PM fiber. The output is user adjustable to vary the beam for best collimation at the wavelength and the distance of interest. The high precision optics deliver a wavefront error <ë/10 and a full beam divergence of <0.5 mrad. The F-H10 Series may be conveniently mounted in Newport's MH-2P Mount (see page 671). The Model F-C5 Series Collimators are designed to accept FC or SMA type fiber connectors and collimate a beam exiting a single-mode fiber to a 2.0 mm to 3.0 mm beam. Conversely, a laser beam can be launched into the assembly to focus the beam into a connected fiber. High quality, broadband AR coated, glass aspheric lenses are used for low insertion loss and beam sizes only limited by diffraction. The F-C5 Series may be mounted in the CLH-11 adaptor, which fits into most 1" mirror mounts. Applications include laser beam delivery systems, as well as coupling the output of a fiber into a detector. Applications of pairs of collimators include beam expansion systems for lab applications, as well as fiber-to-fiber coupling in compact components. H10 Series • Clean Gaussian beams at any distance (near or far) • For single-mode and polarization maintaining fibers • Adjustable focus • VIS, VIS-NIR or NIR coatings (375 nm to 1600 nm) • Low insertion loss and low back-reflection Fiber Optic Collimators C5 Series • Diffraction limited performance • Compact and rugged stainless steel housing • Threaded exterior for easy mounting • Epoxy free optical path • Individually aligned and tested for the specified wavelengths H10 Series Specifications Beam Diameter (mm)(1) 7 Wavefront Distortion < 1/10 wave Beam Divergence Half Angle (°) <0.25 Clear Aperture (mm) 10 NA 0.13 Collimation Adjustable Connector Type FC/PC 1) The numerical aperture of the fiber in use determines the output beam size. Here, an NA of 0.13 was used to measure beam size. To estimate the output beam size for fibers having a different NA, use the following: Beam Sizenew = Beam Sizeold x (NAnew/NAold) = (7 mm) x (NAnew/0.13) = (53.9 mm) x NAnew Example: 53.9 x 0.19 = 10 mm Since the clear aperture of H10 is 10 mm, NA of 0.19 is the largest value that can be used for this collimator without clipping the beam. 2) H10 Series Coatings VIS = 400 to 600 nm NIR = 600 to 1000 nm IR = 1000 to 1700 nm

To estimate output beam diameter, calculate as follows: 2 x NA x EFL = Beam Diameter where NA = numerical aperture of fiber in use. Note: Assure calculated beam diameter does not exceed clear aperture size to avoid clipping the beam. 2) May be used for applications...
