Product catalog summary
Technical Reference Overview: This document provides detailed information on various light sources, including calibration sources, deuterium sources, arc sources, incandescent sources, monochromator and fiber illuminators, solar simulators, and photolithography instruments. It also covers accessories for Oriel light sources.
Specifications: The document details the specifications of 200-500 W Xe and Hg(Xe) Oriel Research Sources. These sources provide stable, low to medium power UV to NIR radiation. Xenon lamps offer a smooth continuum through UV-VIS with high-intensity lines in the NIR, while Hg(Xe) lamps combine the structures of Hg and Xe lamps.
Components: Each source includes a lamp housing with a condenser and built-in ignitor, an arc lamp power supply, and a choice of lamp. Necessary cables and mounting hardware are also provided.
Condenser Comparison: Table 1 compares different condenser types, highlighting their output beam size, lens multiplication factor, and transmittance range. The new asphere condensers are designed to correct spherical and chromatic aberrations.
Safety Considerations: The document emphasizes the dangers of UV radiation and ozone emission. It recommends using ozone-free lamps or venting ozone outside. Protective eyewear and gloves are advised to prevent UV exposure.
Ordering Information: The document lists various models of light sources, specifying lens material, output beam size, and series. It also provides information on replacement lamps, socket adapters, and accessories.
High-Intensity Arc Lamp Sources: The document describes 450-1000 W Oriel Research Arc Lamp Sources, which produce large, collimated UV-NIR radiation. These sources include all necessary components for operation and offer optional optical accessories.
Additional Safety Measures: High-intensity UV radiation requires protective measures such as eyewear, clothing, and gloves. Ozone hazards necessitate well-ventilated areas or the use of an Ozone Eater.

These sources deliver stable, low to medium power UV to NIR radiation. They run selected 200 to 500 W Xe and Hg(Xe) lamps. Xenon lamps emit a reasonably smooth continuum through the UV-VIS and some high intensity lines in the NIR. They are good broadband sources. Hg(Xe) lamps have the structure of Hg lamps in the UV and the structure of Xe lamps in the NIR. These sources consist of: • Lamp Housing with a condenser and a built-in ignitor; see page 111 for complete housing details • 69911 Arc Lamp Power Supply; for complete specifications, see page 114 • Your choice of lamp; see page 101 for lamp details • All necessary cables and mounting hardware Which Sources Do I Choose? We offer various 200 - 500 W Xe Research Sources differing only in the lamp housing condensing lens assembly. Table 1 lists the choices. The new asphere condensers are "corrected optics." Their design ensures that they are corrected spherical aberration and lateral chromatic aberration with minimized longitudinal chromatic aberrations. Please see page 69 for formulae and sample calculations to compute the approximate total output power from your source. Safety Considerations These sources emit dangerous levels of UV radiation and ozone. If you do not need output below ~260 nm, choose an ozone free lamp. If this is not an option, vent the ozone to the outside or use our Ozone Eater (see page 247). To protect yourself from the dangerous UV, wear protective eyewear and gloves (see page 246). • New asphere condensers for superior uniformity • Excellent sources of low to medium power UV-NIR CW radiation • Highly stable, <1% light ripple • High efficiency, low spherical aberration condensing lens assemblies • Easy, safe set-up and operation
