Earthmover MICHELIN tyres are built to perform HIGH-TECH PRODUCT Machines that use earthmover tyres are involved in most economic activities. The machines are frequently used in difcult or even extreme conditions. Mines, ports, infrastructures, industry - these are all demanding environments which can really put tyres to the test! In response, Michelin is committed to developing ranges of tyres that are suitable for each type of machine and use. The tyres are divided into 8 families, and are constantly being updated to take account of developments in machines and their uses. Over 200...

MICHELIN radial casing tyres A tyre’s construction is the key to its performance, and outstanding tyre performance is a key competitive advantage for transport and working machines in the earthmover industry. Earthmoving equipment can achieve outstanding performance by using radial tyres. Composition The radial design combines metal or fabric plies, extending from one bead to the other, with a belt made of several steel plies designed to reinforce the crown of the tyre. A unique construction with numerous advantages The sidewalls and crown work independently: • Minimizing the deformation of...

Comparison between bias and radial tyres Bias or cross ply construction The casing is made up of several criss-crossed plies. The crown and sidewalls are formed by the same ply structure. The tread is affected by exing of the sidewalls, resulting in: • deformation of the tyre contact area on the ground • movement in the tread contact area. The casing plies tend to “scissor” in relation to each other Disadvantages: • accelerated wear • less grip • increased fuel consumption The casing has only one radial ply. The crown is stabilized by several plies. The sidewall and tread function...

of MICHELIN tyres A ccording to the standardized usage (ISO-ETRTO-TRA-JATMA*) The four main categories of earthmover tyre are defined by their use. The category to which a tyre belongs is indicated on the sidewall of the tyre. This is an international classification: * SO: International Standard Organisation I ETRTO: European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation TRA: Tire and Rim Association JATMA: Japan Automobile Tyre Manufacturers Association C Compactor G Grader E Earthmoving L Within these categories, there are different tread depths and special tread patterns, for very specific uses....

Earthmover Michelin tyres TKPH The TKPH (Ton Kilometre Per Hour) or TMPH (Ton Mile Per Hour) is an essential expression of the working capacity of a tyre, depending of a maximum operating temperature allowable. A tyre’s TKPH (TMPH) depends on its design and varies according to size and type. TKPH (TMPH) values are given along with other Michelin tyre characteristics. It is a function of load of each tyre and the number of kilometres (miles) covered per hour by each type of tyre, and are given at an ambient temperature of 38° C (100° F). For the same size and same pattern, there may be...

Different Michelin earthmover tyres tread compounds Type A4: Particularly resistant to cuts, tread tearing and abrasion on very rough surfaces. minimum TKPH (TMPH) Type A: Particularly resistant to cuts, tread tearing and abrasion at average speeds which are higher than those for A4 (above). Type B4: Compromise solution between abrasion resistance and average speed on rough surfaces. moderate TKPH (TMPH) Type B: Higher resistance to internal heat generation on surfaces which are not particularly rough. Type C4: Adapted to running on long cycles at high speeds on well-maintained roads....

Tyre performance As a result of a close partnership with the machine manufacturers and long experience with the users in the eld, MICHELIN tyres are developed with a single objective: maximising the efciency of your loader when carrying out everyday tasks. (1) evaluation based mainly on the inertia of rotating masses Customised offer For extreme usage requiring a high level of protection, it is possible to t tyres for underground mining machines to your loader. Your MICHELIN representative is available to discuss the best solution with you.
