Product catalog summary
Introduction
CARBONE LORRAINE's SINTACLOR® units are designed for the synthesis of hydrochloric acid (HCl) from chlorine and hydrogen. The process releases significant heat, raising the temperature of HCl gas to over 2,000°C, necessitating cooling to prevent corrosive condensation.

Material and Design
The units utilize materials with exceptional resistance to temperature and thermal shocks, chemical inertia, thermal conductivity, and mechanical stability. These materials enable the development of compact and robust equipment for synthesis-cooling or synthesis-cooling-absorption operations.

Process Description
The synthesis involves combustion with a downwards flame, preventing damage to the burner and eliminating gas pockets. The equipment is compact, designed to withstand high pressures, and operates safely with a furnace isolated from the exterior.

Safety Features
The SINTACLOR® unit's safety is proven with over 400 references worldwide. It uses GRAPHILOR® 3, a material suited for extreme temperatures and corrosion, and features an automatic ignition system, redundant safety systems, and an innovative burner design.

Operational Details
The synthesis unit, made from impregnated graphite in a steel casing, performs combustion, gas cooling, absorption, and solution cooling. Chlorine and hydrogen react in a specially designed burner, and the resulting gas is cooled and absorbed in graphite blocks.

Pressure Management
The unit operates near atmospheric pressure and is protected against overpressure by a rupture disk. An automatic remote ignition system allows for easy startup.

Auxiliary Equipment
Auxiliary equipment includes a tail column for scrubbing unabsorbed gases and a flame arrester for safety. The tail column is made entirely of GRAPHILOR® 3 and includes a temperature sensor.

Production Capacity
SINTACLOR® units can produce 1.4 to 150 tons of 100% HCl per day, with flexibility due to interchangeable burners. Capacities vary based on process conditions, with specific requirements for chlorine and hydrogen content, acid production, and cooling water conditions.

Conclusion
CARBONE LORRAINE offers a diversified range of SINTACLOR® units, providing reliable and high-technology solutions for hydrochloric acid synthesis worldwide.

Sintaclor®-2

he synthesis of hydrochloric acid from chlorine and hydrogenis accompanied by the release of large quantities of heat (< 600 kcal/kg HCI produced), which increases the temperature of the HCl gas to more than 2,000۰C.Therefore, this gas usually has to be cooled before it can beused, usually resulting in extremely corrosive condensation of hydrochloric acid below a certain temperature.CARBONE LORRAINE has developed materials with an excep-tional resistance to temperature and thermal shocks. chemical inertia in the presence of hydrochloric acid and its impurities thermal conductivity good mechanical...

ombustion with a downwards flame prevents the absorptionsolution from falling on the hot burner which could damage it. Combustion with downwards flame eliminates gas pocketsthat could contain toxic or unburned materials. Process equipment for combustion with downwards flame ismore compact, so that mechanically the unit can be designedto resist higher pressures. Our synthesis units were tested at an effective pressure of 4.5 bars in the process. Combustion with downwards flame enables increased operatingsafety with a furnace completely isolated from the exteriorwithout condensates purge. > 400...
