Safety Relief Valve SL5

Product catalog summary
Application and Characteristics
The Safety Relief Valve (SRV) SL 5 is designed for systems adhering to DVGW Codes G 491 and G 600, suitable for gases specified in DVGW Codes G 260/G 262 and neutral non-aggressive gases. It can be installed in both horizontal and vertical orientations, with options such as black epoxy resin coating and NPT connection thread available.

Technical Data
The SL 5 supports a maximum allowable pressure of 3 bar and is available in nominal widths of Rp ¾” and Rp 1”. It features an internal thread connection per EN 10226-1, with an optional NPT thread. The housing is constructed from die-cast aluminum, and it operates within a temperature range of -15°C to +60°C.

Structure and Function
This spring-loaded SRV is designed to mitigate short-term pressure surges or prevent excessive pressure increases. It comprises an actuator housing and a control device. When the inlet pressure surpasses the spring force, the diaphragm lifts, opening the valve to release gas.

Installation and Maintenance
Installation should comply with DVGW work sheets G 491 and G 600. The preferred installation position is marked by an arrow on the housing, and overhead installation requires consultation with Medenus GmbH.

Flow Rate and Dimensions
The flow rate capacity is specified with an inlet pressure at 115% of the set pressure. Dimensions and weights are provided for different nominal widths, maintaining a consistent measuring movement diameter of 150 mm.

Ordering Information
Order codes are available for various configurations, including options for biogas and coke oven gas versions. It is crucial to select only one option per selection group.

Contact Information
Contact details for various departments within Medenus, including management and sales, are provided.

Safety Relief Valve SL5-6

Application, characteristics, technical data Structure and function The spring-loaded safety relief valve SL 5 is used for reducing short-term pressure surges upstream of gas consumption systems or preventing an inadmissibly high pressure increase due to escaping gas, and is intended to protect downstream system components from excessive pressure levels. The safety relief valve is composed of the actuator housing and the “control device” functional unit. In the closed position, the gas flows into the actuator housing in the direction of the arrow. There the inlet pressure acts on the underside...
