
The DEMEC Mechanical Strain Gauge is designed for reliable and accurate strain measurements across various points on a structure using a single instrument. Standard gauge lengths range from 100mm to 500mm, with options up to 2000mm available. It is suitable for strain measurement and crack monitoring in various structures. The digital version includes a digital indicator with a resolution of 0.001mm and features for zero set, pre-set, and output for Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems. It can connect to a data processor for result recording and analysis, displaying spindle movement digitally via a linear encoder, with a response speed of 1000mm/sec, and is battery-operated.
The DEMEC strain gauge features an invar main beam with two conical locating points, one fixed and the other pivoting on a knife edge. These points locate in pre-drilled stainless steel discs attached to the structure with adhesive. The design minimizes thermal movement within the instrument. The gauge is supplied in a wooden case with an invar reference bar and a setting out bar for accurate positioning of locating discs.
Micro-strains per division on the dial gauge or increment on the digital indicator vary by gauge length, with the digital version offering higher precision.
The gauge comes with reference and setting out bars, and standard locating discs in packs of 100. Optional accessories include alternative setting out bars and various methods for locating measuring points, such as knurled steel inserts and corner plates.
