Capacitive system for buses & trains

Product catalog summary
Product Overview: The document provides information on a capacitive system designed for buses and trains, developed by Polymer Electric GmbH & Co. KG. This system is intended to enhance passenger safety by preventing impact injuries from automatically controlled doors.
Area of Application: The capacitive system is used as a non-touch detection mechanism, supplementing drag detection per VDV 111. It is integrated directly on the main closing edge of bus and train doors, serving as a predictive impact protection device.
System Setup: The system includes a C-SL finger protection profile with an internal capacitive sensor. When an object approaches, the system detects a change in capacitance, allowing it to recognize passengers before they are impacted by the door. This information is evaluated by the control unit and communicated to the door control system.
Operation: The system operates by maintaining a capacitive field around the C-SL finger protection profile. If an object enters this field, the system detects the change and sends a signal to the door control system to stop or reverse door movement. Examples include inward swinging doors on buses and plug sliding doors on trains.
Key Features:
  • Reliably protects passengers from being jolted or knocked over.
  • Provides additional convenience alongside drag detection (VDV 111).
  • Operates on a non-touch basis directly on the main closing edge.
  • Unaffected by water, dust, extraneous light, leaves, and snowfall.
  • Minimal impact on cycle times.
  • Integrated into the door system.

Capacitive system for buses & trains-2

Area of application The capacitive system, also called non-touch detection, is the ideal supplement to drag detection per VDV 111 on automatically controlled doors of bus and train doors. It serves as a predictive impact protection device, a convenience function directly integrated on the main closing edge. It works on a completely „non-contact“ basis. The principle If an object approaches the C-SL finger protection profile, its capacity changes. In this way, the system recognises a passenger long before Capacitive system SG-CSL Control Unit C-SL finger protection profile he can be jolted by...

Capacitive system for buses & trains-3

Operation The C-SL finger protection profile is constantly surrounded by a defined capacitive field. If an object enters, the field changes. The system detects this change in capacitance and causes the door control system to stop or even reverse the door movement. Object outside the capacitive detection field: Green signal sent to the door control system, door operation continues. Object inside the capacitive detection field: Red signal sent to the door control system, door operation is stopped or reversed. To prevent incorrect evaluations that lead to delays in cycle times, the door surroundings...
