A¢STEfy W-* EXPLOSIONPROOFHEATERS Application:HeofinginPorentiallyExplosiveAreas GENERALCHARACTERISTICS Thse heaters have been designed to operate safely in environments with a potentially explosive atmosphre. They comply wrth the requirements of the European specificalions EN 60079-0. EN 60079-1. EN 60079-7 and EN-61241-1. The certification has been released initially by CE S I (Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano) and then by C.E.C. (Consorzio Europeo di Certificazione). The most important milestones were: El The 1* certification, relevant to the flange-mounted heaters, released in 1985 after having successfully passed the thermal, static and explosion tests required by the sp訩cification 'AThe certification of the pluq-mounted heaters (1998). which was relevant to the whole heating assembly and not to the contact box only PI The release of several certification extensions (years 1990-2000). which enlarged the operational boundaries and the uses p] The certification of the company products for the direct heating of flammable and non flammable gases(2005) H The release of the certrficates for atmosphres with prsence of explosive dusts and for the protection mode "increased safety* (2006) 0 The release of the Russian GOST-R ex-proof type certification applicable to ail Masterwatt explosion proof heaters (2009) 0 The certification of a new set of contact boxes to be used on flange-mounted heaters which allows to manufacture heaters wrth size up to 28" and power up to 5000 kW. The ambient temp詩rature range can be from -60°C to +70 °C and the degree of protection certified is up to IP68 (2010) 0 The release of a new component certificate relevant to individual heating lments for ambient heating and Exe protection mode (2010) When the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC became applicable, the design, production control and documentation pr驩paration working mthodologies relevant to thse type of products were changed. Thanks to the already existing company organisation. this change dld not pr騩sent signrfcant difficulties. In fact Masterwatt was the first Italian company to obtam, in October 2001 ( the production quality certification for to the manufacturing of explosion proof eleethe heaters compilant to ATEX directive. Since 2001 the range of explosion proof heaters has been widened, obtaining the certification of diffrent manufacturing solutions and more severe operational conditions, Today we can provide the following products that are compliant to the ATEX directive: 0 Flanged heaters and electrical heat exchangers M Heating plates and aluminium or bronze cast heaters e 0 Plug-mounted heaters | 0 Air Duct heaters and anticondensation heaters 0 Single smooth or finned anticondensation heaters % www.masterwatt.it Explosion Proof Heaters oage 1/14
Open the catalog to page 1_EXPLOSION PROOF HEATERS Application: Heating in Potentially Explosive Areas These products are designed by our technical department on the basis of the customer provided functional requirements and of the requirements imposed by the ATEX specifications. The design takes into account the physical, chemical and thermodynamic characteristics of the fluid to be heated, as well as the features of the site where the heater will operate and the allowable clearance in the area where the heater will be installed. In fact, a good knowledge of the plant and of the role that the heater will play is...

Written in the nameplate it implies the capability of the heater to operate in such area. In particular, in a GROUP (II) area, potentially explosive gases and/or dusts are present. The areas belonging to this group are surface industries. GROUP I areas are mines in which grisou gas is present Masterwatt heaters are suitable to operated in areas classified as belonging to GROUP II To explain...

They are designed to be inserted into tubes, basins or pressurised tanks, sunk in direct contact with the fluid. The results of the preliminary design is provided, in form of a data sheet, already as part of the offer. In particular, the heater temperature class,...

Heat transfer is by direct contact between the heater upper surface and the bottle bottom. The heat is transferred from the bottle to the gas, thus keeping the internal pressure constant also in the cases where the external temperature is low. In addition, the use of this type of heater allows to optimise gas consumption and to empty completely the...

The heaters are designed to operate in static air and consequently they are characterised by a very low specific heat (0.66 W/cm2). In this way the surface temperature of the heating elements is quite low even if only natural air convection is present. For this same...

This is typically happening within the casing of explosion-proof motors. Masterwatt is however ready to provide support to its customer in the conduction of this important task. Under this respect Masterwatt has collected, during several test campaigns performed...
