R627 High Flow Gas Regulator with Internal Relief

Product catalog summary
Overview: The R627 Relieving Regulator is engineered to prevent over-pressurization using an internal relief valve. It functions by disengaging the relief seat from the diaphragm when output pressure surpasses the setpoint, allowing excess pressure to vent and return to the initial setpoint. This often eliminates the need for an external relief valve. The regulator is available in various spring ranges from 5-20 PSIG to 70-150 PSIG.
Key Features:
  • Internal relief valve with a visual operation indicator.
  • Available in multiple spring ranges and body sizes.
  • Maximum inlet pressures vary by material and seat type.
  • Temperature range: -20˚ to 180˚F (-29˚ to 82˚C).
Applications: Suitable for farm taps, gas gathering, city gates, and district gates.
Specifications:
  • Maximum bonnet and diaphragm casing pressure for die-cast aluminum and steel/SS is 250 PSIG (17.2 BAR).
  • Maximum diaphragm casing overpressure is 120 PSIG (8.3 BAR).
  • Body sizes include 3/4 NPT, 1 NPT, and 2 NPT with various orifice sizes.
Materials and Options:
  • Body, bonnet, and diaphragm case options include steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Diaphragm options include nitrile for low pressure.
  • Seat options include nitrile, nylon, and fluorocarbon.
Performance Data:
  • Relief performance and capacities are detailed for various orifice sizes and pressure settings.
  • Tables provide maximum allowable downstream pressures and inlet pressures to prevent exceeding these limits.
Rebuild Kits: Kits are available for different configurations, including nitrile and nylon options, with specific part numbers provided.
Pressure Settings and Capacities: The document outlines the pressure settings for the R627 regulator, specifying that the inlet pressure should be limited to approximately 100 PSIF (6.90 BAR) for optimal setpoint adjustment. It provides detailed capacity data for 1 and 2-inch body sizes, with capacities measured in SCFH (Nm3/h) for natural gas with a specific gravity of 0.6. The capacities vary based on the outlet pressure, spring range, and orifice size, with specific values provided for different inlet pressures ranging from 35 to 2000 PSIG (2.4 to 138 BAR). Blank areas in the tables indicate where the maximum operating inlet pressure for a given orifice is exceeded.
Parts List: The document includes a comprehensive parts list for the R627 regulator, detailing each component's description, quantity, and part number. Key components include adjustment screws, bonnets, vent screw assemblies, spring guides, diaphragms, levers, O-rings, and various orifice sizes. The parts are available in different materials such as aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, with specific part numbers for each variation. The list also includes additional components like nameplates, relief springs, and diaphragm connectors.
Material and Construction: The R627 regulator parts are available in various materials, including aluminum, steel, and stainless steel, to suit different application needs. The document specifies the material for each part, ensuring compatibility and durability in various operating conditions.
Application and Usage: The R627 regulator is designed for use with natural gas and is suitable for applications requiring precise pressure control. The detailed capacity tables and parts list provide essential information for selecting the appropriate configuration and ensuring proper maintenance and operation.

R627 High Flow Gas Regulator with Internal Relief-1

The R627 Relieving Regulator has an internal relief valve that provides protection against over pressurization. As output pressure builds up above the start-to-discharge point the relief seat disengages from the diaphragm and the excess pressure is relieved through the bonnet vent port. As a result, the output pressure reduces and returns to the initial setpoint. The relief seat then reseats against the diaphragm. The action of the R627 internal relief valve in many cases eliminates the need for an external relief valve. The R627 is available in spring ranges from 5-20 PSIG up to 70-150 PSIG. The R627 contains a relief indicator that is attached to the R627 vent assembly. The indicator pops off the vent when the relief valve opens and serves as a visual indicator that the relief valve has operated. Maximum Inlet Pressure to Keep Maximum Allowable Downstream Pressure from Being Exceeded2 R627 Port Diameter, inches 1. The internal relief performance values are obtained by removing the disk assembly. 2. For inlet pressure in excess of 1000 PSIG (69.0 BAR) refer to the maximum body and disk pressure ratings in the specifications section. 3. For pressure settings under 10 PSIG (0.69 BAR) inlet pressure should be limited to approximately 100 PSIG (6.90 BAR) so the set point adjustment can be obtained. 4. - Shaded areas indicate maximum inlet pressures allowed during system failure only.
