Manitex's UPTime Support Program is designed to enhance reliability, utilization, and profitability for customers. It offers 24/7 parts assistance, an online parts search and order system, performance analysis via UPTrak, a cost-effective rebuild/exchange program (REMan), expert service technicians, and mandatory training at both Manitex and customer facilities.
The SX series boom trucks have a maximum capacity of 30 tons and offer various boom and jib configurations. Key features include a 5-section 124’ proportional boom, optional jibs, a 190’ maximum tip height, and a 20’ 5” X-style outrigger spread. Additional features include an optional ROCSolid handheld outrigger remote control, pilot-operated controls with optional ACCUSwing control, a 2-speed planetary hoist with a grooved drum, a Load Moment Indicator with digital display and overload shutdown, a rugged weatherproof electrical system with circuit status LEDs, continuous rotation, and self-lubricating boom slider pads.
The boom is an inverted T-cross section, telescoping type with a hydraulic cylinder and cable-crowd system. The hoist features a two-speed planetary reducer with a wet multi-disc brake and grooved drum. The swing system includes a ball-bearing swing circle with external gear and ACCUSwing control. The patented X-style outriggers provide 360° stability, with optional remote control. The mounting involves a lower frame mounted to the chassis with threaded rods and clamp plates.
The equipment complies with ANSI B30.5 requirements and includes safety features such as a Load Moment Indicator, Radio Anti-Two-Block System, and Back-Up Alarm. The design and welding adhere to ANSI and AWS standards.
General chassis specifications include wheelbase, cab to tandem, and axle weight ratings. The chassis must meet minimum weight requirements for stability.
Detailed load ratings are provided for various boom and jib configurations to ensure safe operation within specified limits.
The truck chassis includes rear underride protection compliant with Bureau of Motor Carrier Safety Standard 393.86. The lower frame features a torsion-resistant, rigid welded plate design with an integrated pedestal. The boom rest is heavy-duty and removable for easy loading and unloading.
The crane is operated from a single operator platform with a seat mounted to the turret. It includes four pilot-operated single-axis crane controls, engine start/stop, air foot throttle, signal horn, load moment indicator display, boom angle indicator, load chart, and range diagram. The controls comply with ANSI B30.5 standards.
The hydraulic system features a 3-section pump providing different flow rates to various components, a 100-gallon hydraulic reservoir, and a 10-micron filter. Hydraulic cylinders have integral holding valves.
The Load Moment Indicator (LMI) uses a CAN bus system to monitor boom hoist cylinder pressure, boom length, and angle, providing audio-visual warnings for overload conditions. A Radio Anti-Two-Block System prevents hook contact with the boom point, and a back-up alarm is activated when the truck is in reverse.
The electrical system uses weather-resistant components, and the design conforms to ANSI B30.5 and AWS D1.1 standards. Manuals for operation and maintenance are provided, and a 12-month warranty covers parts and labor for defects.
The SX Series chassis data includes wheelbase, cab to tandem, and frame section modulus. The front and rear axle gross weight ratings are specified, along with minimum truck axle weights to meet stability requirements.
The boom features an inverted T-cross section with 4 or 5-section telescoping capabilities. The 102SX model extends from 29’ 9” to 102’, while the 124SX model extends from 30’ 10” to 123’ 6”.
The hoist system offers different line speeds and line pulls for the 102SX and 124SX models. The swing system includes a ball-bearing swing circle with continuous rotation and a dual brake system.
The patented X-style outrigger provides 360° stability without a front stabilizer, with optional remote control for ease of setup.
The lower frame is mounted to the chassis using threaded rods and clamp plates, with no welding required. Rear underride protection is included.
