Product catalog summary
Description: External cage type liquid float level switches are designed for side mounting on tanks or vessels and can be customized to meet specific customer requirements.
Features:
  • Constructed with carbon or stainless steel welded float cages, with other materials available upon request.
  • Handles process temperatures up to 400°C (750°F).
  • Supports up to three switch levels with standard anti-corrosive protection.
  • Flanged cages allow easy maintenance and can operate with specific gravity as low as 0.34 and process pressure up to 62 bar (900 psi).
  • Sealed cages are self-containing with specific gravity as low as 0.35 and process pressure up to 138 bar (2000 psi).
  • Optional features include NACE construction, interface calibration, customized installation dimensions, special actuating levels, code compliance construction, special tank connections, extreme temperature modifications, explosion-proof electrical enclosures, and special exterior surface preparation and finish.
Applications: Suitable for use with foaming or surging liquids, paints, agitated fluids, varnishes, sewage handling, heavy oils, dirty liquids, and liquids with solids.
Agency Approvals: The switches have approvals including ATEX, CENELEC, FM, CSA, SAA, LRS, GOST, and GOSGORTECHNADZOR, ensuring compliance with international safety standards.
Principle of Operation: Operates using a permanent magnet attached to a pivoted switch. As the float rises with the liquid level, it moves a magnet attractor into the magnet's field, causing the switch to tilt, eliminating the need for failure-prone sealing elements.
Mounting Options: Available in sealed and flanged cage designs, with various connection types and materials to suit different applications.
Available Switch Mechanisms: Includes micro switches, hermetically sealed micro switches, pneumatic switches, and proximity switches, each with specific temperature and pressure ratings.
Expedite Ship Plan (ESP): Certain models are available for quick shipment within three weeks, with specific models highlighted in selection data charts.
Selection Data: Provides detailed specifications for various models, including process temperature, specific gravity, and pressure limits, to assist in selecting the appropriate switch for specific applications.
Specifications: Outlines specifications for various switch mechanisms and enclosures, including SPDT and DPDT types, detailing physical and electrical specifications, such as measured variables, process temperature, pressure, and material composition.
Procedures: Provides selection procedures for electric and pneumatic switch mechanisms and enclosures, specifically for B73 and B41 models, advising consulting the factory for higher ratings and multistage units.
Standards and Approvals: Lists various approvals, including ATEX, CENELEC, FM/CSA/SAA, LRS, and GOST/GOSGORTECHNADZOR, specifying explosion-proof and intrinsically safe standards, with cable entries available in M20 x 1.5 ISO, 1" NPT, and 3/4" NPT.
Recommendations: Includes consulting the factory for specific configurations and ensuring proper selection of switch types and enclosures based on application needs.
Dimensional Specifications: Provides detailed dimensional specifications for sealed and flanged cage models, including measurements in mm and inches for various configurations and materials.
Quality Assurance: States that the quality assurance system is ISO 9001 certified, ensuring high-quality design, construction, and service, with a product warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship for five years from the date of shipment.
Contact Information: Provides contact details for Magnetrol representatives in various countries, including Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, and India.

P R I N C I P L E O F O P E R AT I O N A permanent magnet A is attached to a pivoted switch B . As the float C rises following the liquid level, it raises the magnet attractor D into the field of the magnet, which in turn snaps against the non-magnetic barrier tube E , tilting the switch. The barrier tube provides a static seal between the switch mechanism and the float, eliminating the need for a flexing bellows seal, packing gland or other failure prone sealing elements. When the liquid level falls, the float draws the magnet attractor below the magnetic field. The magnet swings out and tilts the...
