High Pressure External Caged Liquid Level Switches

Product catalog summary
Description: External cage type level switches are designed for side mounting on tanks or vessels, featuring customizable options to meet specific customer needs.
Features:
  • Constructed with carbon or stainless steel welded float cages, with alternative materials available.
  • Handles process temperatures up to 260°C (500°F).
  • Includes a single switch level with anti-corrosive protection.
  • Flanged cages allow easy maintenance and can handle specific gravities as low as 0.40 and pressures up to 345 bar (5000 psi).
  • Sealed cages offer similar specifications as flanged cages.
  • Optional features include NACE construction, interface calibration, customized dimensions, special actuating levels, code compliance, special tank connections, and explosion-proof enclosures.
Applications: Suitable for foaming or surging liquids, paints, varnishes, agitated fluids, sewage, heavy oils, dirty liquids, and liquids with solids.
Agency Approvals: Approved by ATEX, CENELEC, FM, CSA, SAA, LRS, GOST, and GOSGORTECHNADZOR for explosion-proof and intrinsically safe environments.
Principle of Operation: Utilizes a displacer heavier than the liquid, resting on a spring. Rising liquid levels cause buoyancy, moving the spring upward to activate a magnet and tilt the switch. A non-magnetic barrier tube provides a static seal.
Expedite Ship Plan (ESP): Certain mechanical switches are available for shipment within three weeks, identified by grey-coding in selection charts.
Available Switch Mechanisms and Housings: Options include micro switches, hermetically sealed micro switches, pneumatic switches, and proximity switches. Housings are available in die-cast aluminum or cast iron, with explosion-proof options.
Selection Data: Order codes for caged models, modified models, or adders form a complete measuring system. Specific gravity and pressure limits depend on construction material.
Physical Specifications: Measures liquid or interface levels with a minimum specific gravity of 0.40, temperatures up to 260°C, and pressures up to 345 bar. Materials include 316 SST for displacer and trim, and magnetic sleeves.
Electrical Specifications: Switch ratings include single SPDT or DPDT contacts, with approvals for hazardous areas. Multiple cable entry sizes are available.
Quality Assurance: ISO 9001 certified quality assurance system, with a five-year warranty covering material and workmanship defects.

P R I N C I P L E O F O P E R AT I O N The displacer A , which is heavier than the liquid, rests its weight on a spring. Rising liquid level imparts buoyancy to the displacer allowing the spring to move upward. The attraction sleeve B , attached to the spring, moves upward into the field of a permanent magnet C . Magnet motion tilts the switch D for actuation. A non-magnetic barrier tube E provides a static seal between the switch mechanism and the displacer assembly.
