Combination Level/Temperature Sensors (MT Series)

Product catalog summary
Overview: The MT Series Combination Level/Temperature Sensors by Madison Company offer a comprehensive range of level switches with integrated temperature sensing capabilities. These sensors are designed for dual-condition monitoring, providing both level and temperature data, which can reduce the need for separate mounting solutions.
Features:
  • Available in a full size range with a broad selection of materials.
  • Standard and custom designs are available, with electronic interfaces.
  • Selected models have industry-specific approvals such as UL, NSF, and CE.
  • Highly reliable technologies are employed across all models.
Specifications:
  • Temperature limitations depend on the materials used in the level switch.
  • Example: Model MT3920-1 uses polypropylene with a Type J thermocouple, suitable for temperatures from -40˚C to 250˚C, while the polypropylene is rated to 105˚C.
  • Stainless steel models can operate in environments up to 300˚C.
  • Time response for selected configurations is typically 20 to 25 seconds.
Standard Stainless Steel MT Series Switches:
  • Maximum temperature: 200°C
  • Maximum pressure: 200-300 PSIG
  • Float material: 316 Stainless Steel
  • Stem material: 316 Stainless Steel
  • Approvals: Various combinations of A, C, D
Standard Plastic MT Series Switches:
  • Maximum temperature: 105°C
  • Maximum pressure: 50-100 PSIG
  • Float material: Polypropylene
  • Stem material: Polypropylene
  • Approvals: Various combinations of A, C, D
Applications: These sensors are suitable for environments requiring precise level and temperature monitoring, with the ability to control associated equipment based on environmental conditions.

Combination Level/Temperature Sensors (MT Series)-1

MT Series Combination Level/Temperature Sensors Madison Company offers many of its liquid level switch products with temperature sensing capabilities. The incorporation of either thermocouples, RTD sensors, thermistors or bimetal switches can offer the user the ability to determine level and temperature in the vessel and save the cost of having dual mounting considerations. Linked with Madison’s cable assemblies and controllers, combination sensors can provide a readout of the environmental conditions, as well as the capability to turn associated equipment on and off. Switches shown above are representative of our combination level/temperature sensor capabilities. (Models MT3920-1, MT5600-1 and MT8000-1) The temperature limitations are dependent on the materials selected for the level switch itself. As an example, the subminiature Model MT3920-1 is a polypropylene level switch with a Type J thermocouple. The thermocouple temperature range is -40˚C to 250˚C (-40˚F to 482˚F), while the polypropylene is rated to 105˚C (221˚F). Another example is a single-point 316 stainless steel liquid level switch engineered for use in a 300˚C (572˚F) environment. Other considerations that Madison Company makes are the position of the sensors, time response and signal conditioning. Time response testing on selected MT configurations has shown a typical response time to be 20 to 25 seconds.
