RECOTRIM

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document discusses the challenges and solutions related to the recovery of edge trim on blown film lines, focusing on the new RECOTRIM® unit designed to address these issues.

Challenges in Trim Recovery
  • Varying line speed depending on trim thickness.
  • Quantity of trim to be recovered in terms of numbers and width.
  • Electrostatic charge of the trim and its regrind, complicating reuse during extrusion.

RECOTRIM® System Overview
  • Developed to seamlessly integrate into production with user-friendly operation.
  • Utilizes a patented co-rotating twin screw system to grasp trims of varying thicknesses.
  • Capable of processing roll stock for recovery via a custom in-feed hopper.

Pelletizing Process
  • Film is melted and plasticized in the screw, then extruded through a specially designed die.
  • Strands are cut into pellet-sized granules using an adjustable speed cutting system.
  • Pellets are air-cooled using a vortex system and further cooled in a spiral device.

Production Capacity
  • Varies based on production circumstances and material type, ranging from 16 to 90 lb/h.

Design Features
  • Extrusion die with blade cutting group and cooling system minimizes hot pellet accumulation.
  • Main blower assembly includes a noise-reducing inlet filter and spiral cooling device.
  • Quick and simple connections facilitate easy relocation for optimal performance.

Trim Recovery Methods
  • Venturi trim suction system with a special hopper for separating trim and convection air is the most practical solution.
  • Alternative method involves a nip roll to maintain trim tension, with limitations at high extrusion speeds.

Technical Specifications
  • Main extrusion unit weight: 870 kg (1900 lb).
  • Blower cooling unit weight: 180 kg (400 lb).

Conclusion
The RECOTRIM® unit offers a practical solution for edge trim recovery in blown film lines, addressing key challenges with innovative design and efficient operation.

RECOTRIM-2

The recovery of edge trim on blown film lines has constantly posed many problems due to: • the line speed that varies depending on the trim thickness • the quantity of trim to be recovered in terms of numbers and width • the electrostatic charge of the trim and its regrind that can make it difficult to re-use during extrusion The new RECOTRIM® has been developed specifically to address the above mentioned concerns. This systems design considerations must include an extremely user friendly operation as its incorporation into the production sequence should be seamless in order to facilitate optimum...

Detail of the extrusion die with blade cutting group and cooling system. The air enters from the center of the die as well as from the outside flowing tangentially to the die, reducing to a minimum the chances of the hot pellets accumulating anywhere in the cooling flow stream. The main blower assembly, separated from the primary extrusion unit, is equipped with a noise reducing inlet filter and a spiral device for cooling the pellets. Quick and simple electrical and mechanical connections make it easy to move the machine and locate it to the best possible position for optimum performance.
