Anti-impact shell for axles, protected by conventional anti-corrosion coating. The shell can be easily removed and remounted during periodical axle NDT inspection. The process is applied to the axles after the final machining and introduces high compressive stresses (-300 to -500 MPa) in the axle surface and subsurface area.
