Spray Wash Cleaning

The document discusses the challenges of reliable pH measurement in industrial processes and waste streams over extended periods without maintenance. LTH Electronics offers spray wash cleaning adapters for pH electrode systems to reduce maintenance and improve electrode life, particularly where electrode bulbs are prone to coating. These adapters are effective for both in-line and dip applications.

The spray wash fittings feature a full coned spray nozzle mounted under the electrode bulb, applying a cleaning solution at 4 litres per minute and 4 Bar pressure. An 18-litre isolating break tank with a ball valve and a pump in a wall-mounted enclosure can be supplied. The break tank isolates the system from the water supply, complying with local bylaws.

The pump, housed in a polycarbonate enclosure, uses a positive displacement 3-chamber diaphragm system with a check valve to prevent reverse flow and can self-prime up to 2.5 metres. It includes a pressure switch and thermal cut-out for protection. Tubing is ordered separately.

When used with LTH MPD53 pH monitor or HPT63 Advanced pH transmitter, the cleaning cycle can be controlled. Set point relays can be configured as a Clean output, with programmable Clean duration, Recovery time, and Interval period. The system allows for taking the monitor or transmitter offline during cleaning, holding the current output and de-energizing control relays.

Clean duration ranges from 5 seconds to 10 minutes, intervals from 5 minutes to 48 hours, and sensor recovery time from 5 seconds to 10 minutes. Set point relays can delay cleaning if chemical dosing is occurring, prioritizing pH control over cleaning.
