DSC Differential Scanning Calorimetry

DSC Differential Scanning Calorimetry

Product catalog summary
Overview: The document provides a detailed description of the LINSEIS DSC PT1 Platinum series, a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) used for analyzing the thermal properties of materials. This technique is standardized under DIN 51007, DIN 53765, ISO/DIN L409, and ASTM D3418.
Specifications: The DSC system includes both software and hardware, with features such as temperature programming, atmosphere control, and timed cycling. It operates within a temperature range of -150°C to +700°C, with heating/cooling rates from 0.1 to 50°C/min. The system offers a temperature accuracy of +/-0.2°C and a resolution of 0.125 uW.
Applications: DSC measurements are crucial for research and development, quality control, process optimization, and defect analysis. The primary industries utilizing DSC include plastics and rubber, pharmaceuticals, and food. Key material properties measured include enthalpy, specific heat, glass point, crystallinity, and thermal stability.
Features: The DSC PT1 series supports controlled cooling using LN2, with a control loop to manage LN2 flow. Various crucibles, including aluminum and platinum, are available for sample preparation. The system is controlled via Windows software, which includes sections for temperature control, data acquisition, and evaluation.
Data Evaluation: The software allows for comprehensive data evaluation, including signal corrections, mass calculations, and statistical analysis. Data can be exported in ASCII format and displayed graphically.
Example Applications: The document highlights applications such as analyzing the crystal structure of Lanthan-Galiumoxid (LaGaO3), determining the glass point of Polyethylenenterephthalat (PET), and identifying melting points of substances like fructose and glucose.
Contact Information: Linseis Inc. in the USA and LINSEIS Messgeräte GmbH in Germany are the primary contacts for further information.

LINSEIS DSC PT1 Platinum series The differential scanning calorimetry method is widely used to examine and characterize substances, mixtures, and materials. This technique is internationally standardized under DIN 51007, The principle of operation is a measurement of the heat flux between the sample and reference. This is done over a well-defined area where the heat is moving. The heat flux is measured while the temperature is changi ng. The results are very important for many applications and provide valuable information for the characterization of The following applications of DSC measurements...

LINSEIS DSC PT1 Platinum series KREG: DSC with controlled cooling Using this option the DSC can be operated using controlled cooling rates. The control gauges are mounted on an existing dewar (normally 50 I). The controller consists of a supply tube into the dewar, a pressure gauge, and an electronic control valve. Through an additional control circuit the LN2 is fed to the DSC measuring cell. It is achieved using the pressure of the evaporating LN2in the dewar. The Data acquisition card in the computer uses a control loop to determine how much LN2 is required for Sample preparation and crucibles...

LINSEIS DSC PT1 Platinum series Applications DSC Picture 1.: Lanthan- Galliumoxids (LaGaO3) Lanthan-Galiumoxid (LaGaO3) Because of the high sensiti vity of the DSC even small calori c effects like the change of the crystal structure of Lanthan-Galiumoxid (LaGaO3) can be made visible. The substance is very interesting especially when fast oxygen/ion conductors are needed, applications do exist with the use of lambda sensors for the catalytic converters Picture 2.: Polyethylenenterephthalat (PET) Polyethylenenterephthalat (PET) Polyethylenenterephthalat (PET) shows at about 77° C a significant...
