Optical Clarity - Why It's Important Optical Clarity The NEW VIKING™ 1740 Series auto-darkening helmets have a perfect EN379 - 1/1/1/1 optical clarity rating. This test measures the performance of the auto-darkening filter on four separate optical categories. Each Category is graded on a scale of 1-3, with a score of 1 being the best and 3 being the worst.
