Press Release – Layher AG, 71737 Kirchberg Subject: Dual coil power relay Field of application: Commercial vehicle construction Consistent high performance under the most extreme conditions Layher AG from Kirchberg is known for its creative, market-driven solutions in relay construction. This also includes the high-performance relays of the 825 and 900 series with a dual coil switching system. They have been developed for use under the most extreme conditions, especially for applications in civil and also military commercial vehicle construction (the 900 series has approvals for defence vehicles). They have very high shock and vibration resistance, meet the requirements for IP67 and IP6K9K tightness (steam pressure cleaning) against the effects of water and dust and offer high functional reliability over a wide temperature range from -55°C to 130°C. They also score points for their high resistance to climate, corrosion and chemicals (e.g. oils, fuels and hydraulic fluids). A special coil and magnetic field design with trip coil and holding coil ensures precise switching characteristics and aims at minimised holding current requirements with a maximum 0.25 A. Depending on the design, these relays can handle a continuous current of 100 to 300 A. These relays, trimmed for a long service life, are available in a wide range of versions and with a variety of mounting types. Adaptive suppression devices to avoid electromagnetic interference in the coil also extend the range of applications. Preferred applications are seen in power distribution, as battery disconnection switches, starting relays, for controlling heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems or hydraulic systems.
