The environmental shroud is a perfect choice for longer-term measurements in inclement weather. Its special acoustic windscreen material and configuration protect the microphone from rain, sleet, and snow. The shroud seals the preamplifier in a desiccated chamber, thus preserving performance in high humidity environments. The desiccant volume is many times greater than that of inline desiccant cartridges, for lasting protection without interference between the microphone and preamplifier. The shroud is also equipped with "bird-spikes" to deter birds and other animals. Model EPS210X is an inexpensive option to purchasing a full outdoor microphone preamplifier system with built-in rain hat, and electro-static actuator such as the Model 426A12. The excellent temperature stability of Larson Davis preamplifiers such as the Model PRM902, PRM831, and 426E01, allows operation in a wide temperature range without an internal heater. Additionally, Larson Davis microphones have outstanding resistance to acids and other corrosive agents making them a good choice for use with the environmental shroud. The Model EPS2106 fits on a 3/4 inch pipe which protects the cable from weather and animals. The Model EPS2108 can be mounted on a standard instrument or camera tripod having a 1/4 - 20 mounting stud. Larson Davis
